Course Overview:

“Old age” –The very term conjures up images of a frail, hunched, wrinkled body, with a toothless, dribbling mouth and uncontrollable bladder and bowels. Hardly surprising then, that many of us aspire an early, dignified death as compared to a prolonged dependent life. Nevertheless, it is a notion of unquestionable truth. Thankfully, NO! Old age largely need not necessarily be synonymous with disease, dependence and a drab existence. On the other hand, it could be a time of unhurried luxury allowing a lot of productivity. Geriatrics is an integral and inseparable part of Astanga Ayurveda. The chief aim of geriatrics is to ‘Add life to years’ rather than “Years to life” (British geriatric society). If Ayurvedic principles like Rasayana and Vajikarana including yoga and Swastha Vritta (Social & preventative health care of Ayurveda) is applied in true spirit, it is possible to achieve this desired goal. This course prescribes numerous ways and means to over-come the old age related medical, psychological and social problems in a holistic way.

Facilitator: Dr.Prasanna Aithal
